Sailboat Setup - v 1.0

Advancing the art of setting up your boat for maximum performance.

Current Site Status

The site has been developed to a state where it needs active users. Some testing and feedback will be needed over the next few months to finalize some of the features and smooth out some wrinkles. If you are an active Star sailor and would like to participate please contact me - Ray Rogers. The main qualities needed currently are a keen interest in the details of setting up your boat, a commitment to posting your information on this site and providing some feedback. As always discussion on the development forum is most welcome.

The site is progressing - albeit slowly. I think most of us are out sailing......

  • I've made some changes to the navigation system and added a more streamlined menu system at the top of the page. I will most likely do away with the left hand one.
  • The main race setups display now works along with some basic filtering tools. This is a key feature that will eventually become very valuable once people start entering real data.
  • I need

Focus now is on getting some members who will take part in the data collection process to get this really working properly and to work out some final details.the measurement scale working so we can display setup data values consistently.

Welcome to Sailboat Setup

This site is in an early stage of development and is intended for those interested in managing setup data for sailboats.

Tac TicThe main focus is racing sailboats, but future expansion will include cruising classes. The initial boat for developing this site will the Star Class. If you have an interest in learning how to set one up or if you would like to follow what we are doing I urge you to keep visiting. If you feel like participating don't hesitate to contact me - rprogers@telus.net

Loos GaugeYou can expect to see several features developed early in this program. All routines will be made available as online tools and stand alone applications to run on PCs and mobile devices. The primary purpose is to develop a tool to store and retrieve setups for racing boat classes. I'll be building pages for each of these routines so that development issues can be discussed separately.

What the future holds

Imagine having access to setup information from sailors around the world. That's what will make this site so valuable. If you wish to keep your settings private that option will be available. But the real value of this database will be when you can enter simple criteria into a search feature and recall matching setup information from all sailors who use the system. There are endless possibilities that will become more evident as the site grows. Stay tuned - and of course if you have ideas and suggestions, join in.

In the meantime feel free to look around - changes to the site will be posted at the side so you can see what's new in a glance.
